Kings vs. Grizzlies Injury Report: Murray Questionable, Edey Out as Sacramento Seeks First Win

The Sacramento Kings have opened the 2026-27 season with two straight losses, falling to the L.A. Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers. They had an opportunity to secure their first victory against Portland but failed to capitalize. Now they return home to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday in what appears to be another winnable matchup.

Memphis, however, has exceeded early expectations by winning its first two games against the Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors. The Grizzlies are eager to start 3-0 as they head into Sacramento. Both teams are managing injuries, and the statuses of several players could shape the game.

Kings Injury Report

Sacramento has ruled out three players for Sunday and listed Keegan Murray as questionable after he tweaked his ankle in the last game. The full report: Keegan Murray – QUESTIONABLE (left ankle capsulitis); Dylan Cardwell – OUT (left calf strain); Maxime Raynaud – OUT (right patella subluxation); Ben Simmons – OUT (right Achilles tendon repair/surgery). Cardwell, Raynaud, and Simmons remain sidelined with no changes, but Murray is a new addition.

Losing Murray would be a significant blow for the Kings, as injuries continue to plague the 26-year-old forward. Last season, Murray appeared in just 23 games, and with his five-year, $140 million contract now active, the team needs him to stay healthy. His availability is crucial, but he also must produce when on the floor. Through the first two games, Murray has totaled only 14 points and 6 rebounds while shooting 5-17 from the field and 0-7 from beyond the arc. The Kings desperately need him to find his rhythm, and fans are growing concerned that he may never fulfill his potential.

His status will be monitored leading up to tip-off on Sunday night. If he is unable to play, Sacramento will likely turn to Precious Achiuwa, Daeqwon Plowden, or Jonathan Mogbo to fill his spot in the starting lineup.

Grizzlies Injury Report

Memphis will be without starting center Zach Edey, matching the Kings' absence of a starter, while another key player is questionable. The full report: Cedric Coward – QUESTIONABLE (left wrist sprain); Zach Edey – OUT (left ankle injury management). Edey's absence is a major setback for the Grizzlies and could set up a big game for Domantas Sabonis, but the rest of Memphis' core could still cause problems for Sacramento.

Ty Jerome has been on fire to start the season, leading the NBA with 36.5 points per game, and top rookie Cameron Boozer is making a strong impact. This is a more favorable matchup for the Kings, especially with Edey sidelined, but it is far from an easy win.

The Kings and Grizzlies are scheduled to tip off at 6:00 p.m. PT in Sacramento.
