Kansas City had some big moments

I have failed as a grandfather.

There are four current grandsons and I had never had all of them at a Kansas City Royals baseball game.

That changed on July 4.

I like to get lower level tickets behind home plate.

However, on July 4 or any firework night, it is good to get upper level tickets.

It is wonderful to watch the fireworks without breaking your neck to look up.

A person just looks straight ahead and the fireworks are at eye level.

The baseball team promised one of the biggest firework displays ever.

They delivered.

They delivered very well.

It was the perfect way to celebrate Merica with a baseball game, hot dog and fireworks.

These were fireworks.

The Royals didnt produce any fireworks on the field and lost to Philadelphia.

Things changed on Sunday when the rules scored 15 runs.

The 15 runs is not that special, however, what Kansas City did in the game was something that had not been done in a decade.

Actually, their achievement was something more rare than a perfect game from a pitcher.

Kansas City scored in every inning of the game.

At first, I thought that isnt that rare.

Then I looked into the matter.

It is really rare to score in every inning.

Even though the Royals are cellar dwellers this year.

They had a player that set another record, well tie one.

Tyler Tolbert is the first MLB player in modern baseball history to get 12 straight hits.

That is correct.

Tolbert got 12 straight hits over a three game streak.

That is the first time this has happened since 1902.

I realize that 1902 is still part of the baseball history because if the Dead Birds won a World Series title against the other seven teams in the league, they would be claiming it.

However, in the modern era, Tolbert is the first to accomplish this.

My wife and I are taking the grands back to Kansas City next week.

The Royals game and a Bobby Whitt bobblehead is in the back of my mind.

I hope the kids had enough fun on the July 4th to do it all over again.
