Josh Jacobs Unfazed by Boos in Packers Return: 'I Don't Care'

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs remains unbothered by the jeers that greeted him during his return to the field. In his first appearance since being removed from the commissioner's exempt list, Jacobs faced a hostile crowd at Ford Field as the Packers fell 20-17 to the Detroit Lions last Sunday, but the veteran insisted the negativity did not affect him.

"St, I don't care. Imma hoop. That's all I can do. All I can do is control what I can control. Imma go out there and play ball," Jacobs told reporters during his media session.

Jacobs had been sidelined for Green Bay's first six games after being placed on the commissioner's exempt list, a consequence of his no contest plea to two misdemeanor charges stemming from a May altercation with his then-girlfriend.

In his 2026 debut, Jacobs logged 35 offensive snaps but found little room to run, managing 36 rushing yards on 11 attempts without a touchdown. The Packers' ground game as a whole struggled, accumulating just 60 yards on 19 carries for a 3.2-yard average. Green Bay's rushing woes predated Jacobs' return, and his comeback has yet to provide the spark the team needs.

Despite the difficulties on the ground, Jacobs made his presence felt in the passing game against Detroit, catching five of seven targets for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Jacobs and the Packers will look for a more productive outing in Week 8 when they host the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau Field.

Key Analysis

Jacobs' ability to block out external noise underscores his focus as he reintegrates into the lineup. While his rushing numbers were modest, his contributions as a receiver offer a glimpse of the versatility that made him a prized acquisition. The Packers' ongoing struggles in the running game, however, remain a concern that Jacobs alone may not solve. With a favorable matchup against the Panthers on the horizon, Jacobs could be poised for a breakout performance.
