Veteran edge rusher Matthew Judon is exploring his next opportunity after being let go by the San Francisco 49ers from their practice squad earlier this week. On Wednesday, he had a workout with the New York Jets, according to a report.
Judon, who turns 34 this year, was once considered one of the NFL's premier pass rushers. He earned Pro Bowl honors twice during his early years with the Baltimore Ravens, and upon reaching free agency, he signed a four-year, $56 million deal with the New England Patriots, where he added two more Pro Bowl selections.
However, a torn bicep suffered in 2023 caused him to miss the majority of that season, and his performance has not returned to its previous level since the injury. This year, he appeared in just one game for the 49ers before being released.
Key Analysis
In addition to Judon, the Jets also worked out defensive ends Cam Sample and Quinton Bell, as well as running backs Ian Wheeler and Dante Miller. The team appears to be evaluating multiple options to bolster its roster.
