One of the league leaders, Holy Family Universitys Team Aquatic (2-0), had a bye last week, while Jefferson Universitys Team Blackstar remained in the top spot as it climbed to a 3-0 record.

Two of the teams that include Germantown Academy alums, teams Electric Pink and Citrine Orange, had records of 2-1 and 2-1 respectively.

The first game on June 23 was definitely an Ursinus affair.

One of the teams, Sunburst, featured a dozen current Ursinus College players.

The opposing squad, Citrine Orange, had three Ursinus alumni on the roster, including the DiLello sisters out of Germantown Academy.

The entire Ursinus coaching staff was in the stands to take in the action.

The first half followed a pattern of the Sunburst team surging ahead and then the Orange responding and cutting into the lead.

Sunburst went up by double digits in the middle of the first quarter (27-16), but by the end of the period Orange was back within five points, 27-22.

By halftime, Sunburst once more appeared to be in a commanding position, with a 46-34 advantage.

Ursinus rising sophomore Anna Chimento, a post player, led all scorers at the break with 14 points, but a back injury forced her to the Sunburst bench for the second half.

Helping power Orange in the first half was Ursinus alum Natalie Mehl (24) with 11 points.

The Orange players clawed their way back once more, and set up a fourth quarter showdown by reducing their deficit to five points at the three-quarter mark (61-56).

Theyd hit four three-pointers in the third period, and increased their perimeter production in the final stanza to a total of five threes from three different players.

The Orange gained their first lead when Lily Bross (Council Rock South/Rowan U.

28) struck from beyond the arc to make it 67-65.

After Orange led 74-69 with two minutes left to play, the teams exchanged three-pointers.

Kylie McNicholas (Ridley/Ursinus 25) hit a 15-foot jumper for Orange and Mehl netted two free throws with 16 seconds left to put the 81-72 final score on the board.

Team Oranges Grace McShane (Bensalem/Rowan U.

30) led all scorers, nailing four three-point shots and scoring 17 of her 25 total points in the second half.

Despite sitting out the second half, Chimento still emerged as Sunbursts high scorer, with 14 points.

The second contest on June 23 was nowhere near as dramatic, as Division II Blackstar (Jefferson U.) rolled past Royal Crown, made up of athletes from three different Division III schools.

Recently graduated Germantown Academy point guard Jennifer Fox, who had missed her senior season due to a knee injury, had just been cleared to play earlier that day.

The future Franklin & Marshall College player would score two points for Royal Crown.

Blackstar led the contest 30-11 at the end of the first quarter and kept pulling away, although Royal would have a 19-18 edge in the fourth period.

Jefferson rising senior Gabby Recinto scored 14 points, leading a list of 10 scorers for her squad.

Blackstar got a dozen from Morgan Sconza, who is one of two players from Division II Georgian Court University who are playing with the Jefferson ladies.

Royal had three different players score 10 points apiece.

The June 24 schedule began with a pick-up game being played instead of an official league contest.

Team Purple Haze, whose contingent of West Chester University players didnt turn up, forfeited to Electric Green.

Green then added a few of its players to the four Purples who were present so everyone at least got in a workout.

The second game sort of blended the two scenarios observed in the previous days encounters; there were two quarters in which the teams went neck-and-neck, and two others in which Electric Pink dominated on its way to a 72-49 victory.

Pink, which blends Division II and III players on its roster, had a 12-10 edge in the opening quarter against Team Jade, a Division III outfit with a number of Arcadia University players.

In the second period, Pink added nine more points to its lead for a 35-24 halftime advantage.

Helping create the gap in round two were Goldey Beacoms ZaMylah Seda-Owens, with eight points in the period, and 2026 GA grad Sylvie Harrington (Gettysburg), with five.

After a 12-12 standoff in the third quarter, Pink pulled away again, going up by 20 (65-45) with three minutes left in the game.

The final score was 72-49, and the winners were led by two University of Scranton players, Marisa Francione (15 points) and Maura Gilroy (13).

Harrington finished with 10 points, as did Seda-Owens.

The game high, however, belonged to Team Jades Abby Arnold, a rising sophomore from Arcadia who hit six three-pointers and had 20 points overall.

Between them the teams recorded 21 three-point field goals.
