Darryn Peterson wasted no time showcasing his overall ability with the Utah Jazz , nearing a 30-point performance in his debut in the Salt Lake City Summer League on Saturday.
Peterson produced a game-high 28 points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots in a 103-102 overtime victory over the Atlanta Hawks.
He went 11-for-21 from the field, including 4-for-7 from 3-point range, in 27 minutes of work at the Jon M.
Huntsman Center.
The 19-year-old recorded 18 points in the second half and overtime alone.
He displayed several of the traits that enabled him to be the No.
2 overall pick this year, including his playmaking, ability in the open court and strength in the paint.
"It felt great," Peterson said afterward.
"That was my first game since my last game in March, and that was also on my mind because (Hawks rookie) Zuby (Ejiofor) was on the other team, and they beat us on a game-winner.

Saturday offered the first chance for Peterson to log competitive minutes with Ace Bailey and Cody Williams, who combined for 27 points.
The 6-foot-6 Peterson got the start at point guard, often initiating the offense for the Jazz and handling the ball in other situations.
He committed eight turnovers, which he admittedly said must improve, but he was otherwise mostly pleased with his performance.
Peterson arrived in Salt Lake City to much fanfare as a draft prospect expected to be a potential franchise cornerstone.
He received a standing ovation early in the game and was applauded for his effort throughout, which hasn't gone unnoticed by him.
"It was great," Peterson said.
"Kind of reminds me of Kansas a little, with a great fanbase.
Like I said before, when I put on the uniform, it is not just for myself, it is for the fans as well.
