Jarry Shines with 24-Save Shutout as Oilers Blank Flames 4-0

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Tristan Jarry turned aside 24 shots for the shutout, and Connor McDavid contributed two points as the Edmonton Oilers ended a two-game skid with a 4-0 win over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night.

McDavid pushed his season-opening point streak to 13 games, increasing his NHL-leading total to 36 points. He also extended his assists streak to 13 games to begin the campaign, establishing a new NHL record and surpassing Sebastian Aho, Ken Linseman, and Wayne Gretzky for the longest such streak in league history.

Mathieu Joseph, Mattias Ekholm, Kasperi Kapanen, and Alex Formenton each scored for Edmonton, which improved to 9-2-2. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins chipped in with assists.

For Calgary, Dustin Wolf made 20 saves in relief after starter Devin Cooley (eight saves) was injured late in the first period when he was run over in the crease by forward Colton Dach. The Flames fell to 5-7-0, snapping their four-game winning streak.

Calgary will host Seattle on Friday night, while Edmonton travels to face the New York Islanders on Saturday.
