Pauls standout Jalyn Armour-Davis held his first annual football and STEAM camp Saturday at Bishop State Community College.

The free event was open to boys and girls ages 8 to 12.

Participants learned football fundamentals and took part in hands-on STEAM activities.

STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

The goal of the camp was to combine sports and education and give local kids a free day of learning and teamwork.Seeing the kids smile when they did things that they didnt think they would want to do, Armour-Davis said.

I think a lot of kids, when they get here and they hear the mathematics and everything, its like, oh, we just got out of school.

And, you know, it doesnt sound fun.

I came to play football.

And halfway through, you know, the session, we see smiles, we see energy, we see teamwork, we see the kids working with each other to get to an end goal and not just sports, to be doing that in the classroom as well.

So, thats, that was our main goal.
