Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence surveyed the field and spotted a favorable matchup on the right side, where Travis Hunter was sprinting downfield in single coverage. Lawrence launched a deep pass that Hunter, despite being tightly guarded by former Colorado teammate Preston Hodge, managed to haul in with a spectacular adjustment of his body for a significant gain.
This catch was the third highlight of the day for Hunter and arguably his best, showcasing the kind of playmaking ability that convinced the Jaguars to trade up for him in the 2025 NFL Draft. Offensive coordinator Grant Udinski praised Hunter's impact, noting his infectious energy that lifts the entire team. "The deep reception was awesome to see. It's great getting back out there with the guys," Udinski said. "He has such an infectious energy that it affects not just the receivers, probably the offensive line, coaches and everybody out there."
Hunter had previously mentioned his focus on regaining his form after missing nine months with a right knee injury. His performance on Day 4 suggests he is making progress. In addition to the deep catch, Hunter also made a reception earlier in practice by finding a soft spot in the defense and evading defenders, and he recorded an interception against Nick Mullens by breaking off his coverage to jump a route.
Training Camp Workload
Hunter's snap count is increasing as camp progresses. According to tracking by the Times-Union, Hunter has taken 22 offensive snaps and 34 defensive snaps in 11-on-11 drills, plus five offensive and seven defensive snaps in 7-on-7. That brings his totals to 27 on offense and 41 on defense. So far, he has caught three passes, broken up three, and intercepted one.
