JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have long been a team where under-the-radar players shine during training camp, and the trend continues under the new coaching staff. Several young, undrafted or late-round picks have already made their presence felt at the Miller Electric Center.
Seventh-round defensive end Zach Durfee has been a standout early on. Despite the absence of pads, Durfee has consistently made plays in team drills. He recorded a tackle for loss against the run on Wednesday and followed it up with a sack on Thursday. While the defensive end depth chart likely slots him no higher than fifth, if he continues to produce when pads come on, he could see increased playing time similar to B.J. Green's trajectory last season.
Undrafted rookie cornerback Devon Marshall also turned heads by breaking up a pass intended for star wide receiver Travis Hunter during team drills. With veteran Christian Braswell limited early in camp, Marshall could see extra reps. Even if he doesn't make the initial 53-man roster, a practice squad stint could set him up to become next year's version of Jabbar Muhammad.
