Jackson Chourio appeared relaxed and composed just hours before Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday, October 11, at American Family Field.
Though only 22 years old, Chourio might be the Milwaukee Brewer who has gained the most from the team's 2025 playoff run. He commented, "Once I take the field, I forget about age."
In the previous year, the Brewers were swept by the Dodgers, but Chourio still found some success at the plate. He hit a leadoff home run against the usually dominant Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 2 on October 14, 2025, and totaled three hits in the series.
Now in his third postseason, Chourio already holds the Brewers' franchise record for postseason home runs. That experience has given him a sense of calm.
"Maybe in my first year, I wasn't quite aware of the pressure that (the postseason) brings," Chourio said. "Now I'm able to approach it more calmly and approach each day with a little bit more calm mindset. And know what I am facing each day."
Chourio has played 16 postseason games over his three years in the majors, enough to boost his confidence against the talented Dodgers and their starting rotation. Yet his experience hasn't dulled his excitement for this time of year, as he still enjoys watching his highlights.
When asked how many times he had watched the replay of his hit against Mason Miller in the Game 2 walkoff win against San Diego, Chourio replied through translator and team coach Daniel de Mondesert: "A lot! But at the same time, I really tried to not watch it too much. It happened. It's in the past now. Now the focus shifts to this series. Things that I can do in order to help this team win this series and these games that we have coming up."
Key Analysis
Chourio's maturity beyond his years is evident as he enters his third postseason. His ability to compartmentalize past successes and focus on the present could be crucial for the Brewers as they face a formidable Dodgers team. With his franchise-record postseason home runs, Chourio has already made his mark, but his calm demeanor and experience may be the X-factor in this series.
