The New York Islanders made a significant addition to their hockey operations department on Monday, announcing the hiring of Evan Gold as an assistant general manager and the new general manager of their American Hockey League affiliate in Hamilton. Gold, who spent the past 12 years with the Boston Bruins, expressed his excitement about joining the Islanders in a statement, calling it an honor. He will take over the GM role for the Hamilton franchise from Chris Lamoriello, the son of former Islanders executive Lou Lamoriello. Despite stepping down as AHL GM, Lamoriello will remain with the organization as one of Mathieu Darche's assistant GMs, alongside Ryan Bowness, Steve Pellegrini, and now Gold.
