Evan Gold, who previously held the position of assistant general manager with the Boston Bruins, has found a new opportunity just a short drive down the East Coast. The New York Islanders announced on Monday that they have brought Gold on board as an assistant general manager, working under General Manager Mathieu Darche.
In addition to his duties with the NHL club, which include contract negotiations, salary cap management, and scouting, Gold will also take on the role of general manager for the Islanders' top minor league affiliate, the Hamilton Hammers. This mirrors the multifaceted role he held in Boston, where he served in a similar capacity for the past 12 years, most recently as an assistant general manager under Don Sweeney since 2023.
Gold's Statement and Reaction

Track Record and Recent Moves
Gold's tenure with the Bruins included a successful run with the Providence Bruins, the team's AHL affiliate. Although playoff success eluded Gold's teams, they consistently won games, posting at least 41 wins in each of the last three seasons and leading the AHL last season with 54 victories. Prior to leaving the Bruins organization last month, Gold was also a finalist for the Toronto Maple Leafs' general manager position, which ultimately went to John Chayka.
The Bruins have undergone significant front-office changes this offseason. Fellow assistant GM Jamie Langenbrunner also departed, taking a senior advisory role with the Nashville Predators. In response, Boston hired former Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams as a senior advisor to Sweeney, and promoted Dennis Bonvie and Jeremy Rogalski to assistant general manager positions. The club also brought in Alex Giminez for the newly created role of director of hockey operations, collective bargaining agreement.
