Indiana Hoosiers defensive end Stephen Daley is set to rejoin the squad for the 2026 season, as announced on Tuesday. The fifth-year senior, who missed the team's triumphant postseason last year due to a severe knee injury, will now have the opportunity to help the Hoosiers defend their national title.
Daley's return is made possible by a preliminary injunction issued last week by a U.S. District Court judge in Colorado, which grants athletes from the Class of 2022 an additional year of eligibility for the upcoming academic year. Although the NCAA has appealed the ruling, Daley and others in his situation are currently eligible to compete immediately.
The announcement was celebrated by the Indiana football program, which posted on social media, 'Run it back, @sdaley_90.' Daley himself addressed the fans, stating, 'Hoosier Nation, excited to get back to work.'

Daley had transferred to Indiana from Kent State after three years, and despite declaring for the NFL Draft in January, he went undrafted and unsigned. In an April interview with The Winchester Star, he revealed that his recovery would likely keep him out until August or September.
