Toews also said the team is headed in the right direction with the signing of Kane, who will likely skate with Connor Bedard as the team looks to get their star player a top-six winger to play alongside.Both Toews and Kane got a taste of what it was like to play for teams other than the Blackhawks as the teams core was disassembled in recent years.
Kane was traded to the New York Rangers during the 2022-23 season, and then played the last three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings.Toews last suited up for the Blackhawks during the 2022-23 season, then took two seasons off before he signed a one-year deal to play for his hometown Winnipeg Jets prior to last season.
In his final NHL season, Toews scored 11 goals and dished out 18 assists.He didnt get a chance to return to the Blackhawks before he announced his retirement at the end of the season, but Kane will indeed get that opportunity in what could be the final stop of his NHL career.
