Here are SW Florida's top 25 wrestlers of the past 25 seasons - Our list features the top 25 wrestlers from Southwest Florida high schools over the past 25 seasons.
- Wrestlers were selected based on their high school and college wrestling careers.
- The list includes players from various high schools, including Palmetto Ridge, Riverdale and Mariner.
Southwest Florida has consistently been a hub for high school wrestling.
The last 25 years have seen programs like Riverdale and Palmetto Ridge win state titles and several local products go on to produce All-American careers in college.
Plenty of talented wrestler populate the area's many successful programs over the years.
As a result, selecting the top 25 girls basketball players of the past 25 seasons was a considerable challenge.
To be eligible for this list, a player had to compete for a Southwest Florida high school between 2001 and 2025.
Consideration was given not only to how they performed at the high school level but college as well.
Here are our selections, presented in alphabetical order.
Obe Blanc, Lely In 2003, Blanc won a state title with the Trojans and the NHSCA Senior national title.
He wrestled at Oklahoma State and Loch Haven, where he earned All-American honors, and is now coaching at North Dakota State.
Blanc entered the Florida Wrestling Hall of Fame this year.
Mike Bono, Lely Bono won 131 matches in his high school career and, after finishing as state runner-up in 2000, won his first state title the following season as a senior.
Bono, who was named the 2001 Naples Daily News Wrestler of the Year, went on to wrestle at Army.
Maximus Brady, Mariner Brady became the second Southwest Florida to win four state titles after completing the state championship four-peat from 2022-2025.
He is currently wrestling at the University of Northern Iowa and made the finals of U23 Nationals this year.
Ben Carter, Barron Collier Carter never lost when given the opportunity to compete at states.
As a freshman in 2006, he won his first state title as a freshman.
After a two-year hiatus, he won again as a senior, taking down the top-ranked wrestler in the state.
Carter was named the 2009 News-Press Wrestler of the Year that season.
Richie Dehnz, Palmetto Ridge Dehnz was one of the Bears' first state champions, earning his first state title in 2006 with a 58-0 record (a state record) and repeating as champion the next two seasons.
He went on to wrestle at Appalachian State.
Jared Dinh, Riverdale Dinh had two state runner-up finishes and won it all in 2020.
He went on to wrestle at Gardner-Webb and Cumberland University.
Keith Evans, Riverdale Evans made three state finals from 2003-2005, winning the latter two championships.
He was named The News-Press Wrestler of the Year in back-to-back seasons.
In his career, Evans went 143-10.
Evans is the head coach at his alma mater.
Clynt Hadley, Palmetto Ridge Hadley was part of a fearsome Bears squads under Mark Rosenbalm that won the Class 1A state title in 2007 and came in second the following season.
Hadley won individual state titles in both 2007 and 2008.
Chuck Kerkesner, Cypress Lake Kerkesner was a three-time state finalist and two-time champion, taking the titles in 2011 and 2012.
He went 48-0 during his senior season.
Kerkesner wrestled at Franklin & Marshall College.
Matt Markowski, Fort Myers Markowski was a four-time state placer, coming out on top three times from 1999-2001.
He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as a recipient of the Dave Schultz Excellence Award.
Jesse Martinez, Riverdale After third-place finishes in the state his freshman and sophomore seasons, Martinez turned in back-to-back state championships to close his high school career.
He wrestled collegiately at Penn.
Zach Mastro, Palmetto Ridge Masto placed at states four times and was crowned champion in 2006 and 2008.
He went on to wrestle at Appalachian State University.
Christian Minto, Mariner Minto became the Tritons' first three-time state champion after winning the titles from 2017-2019.
He went undefeated in his junior and senior seasons.
Minto earned two JUCO national titles at North Iowa Area Community College and is now on the coaching staff.
Christopher Minto, Mariner Minto won three state championships from 2021-2023, including an undefeated junior season.
Currently wrestling at Nebraska, he is a two-time All-American coming off a season where he finished as NCAA runner-up.
Christian Moder, FBA Moder reached his first state final with Golden Gate in 2020.
After transferring to First Baptist, he went back-to-back with state titles in 2022 and 2023.
Moder competes at Bellarmine University.
Joey Nadotti, Palmetto Ridge Nadotti finished his high school career with a record of 200-19.
He won the 160-pound title in Class 2A as a junior and senior (2015-16), winning the Daily News Wrestler of the Year award both seasons.
He went on to wrestle at Southeastern University.
Kiera Partello, Barron Collier Partello is the lone female wrestler to make the list and the only wrestler, girl or boy, to be named Southwest Florida Wrestler of the Year three times (2024-26).
After finishing as state runner-up in 2025, she broke through with her first state title the following year as a senior.
She finished her senior season with a staggering 45-2 record.
Partello will continue her wrestling career at Menlo College.
Dominic Rodriguez, Riverdale Rodriguez won state titles with the Raiders in 2021 and 2022.
He found success after high school on a different mat in judo.
Rodriguez is a three-time world junior champion and two-time senior Pan American champion in the sport.
Cole Schneider, Riverdale Schneider won state titles in 2015 and 2017.
In that 2017 season, he went undefeated and was named The News-Press Wrestler of the Year.
Schneider played college football four years at Central Florida and is currently in the UFL.
Scotti Sentes, Riverdale Sentes made Southwest Florida history, becoming the first wrestler to win four state titles from 2005-2008.
He wrestled collegiately at Central Michigan, earning All-American honors twice.
Sentes was inducted into the FloridaWrestling Hall of Fame this year.
Chase Singletary, Palmetto Ridge Singletary reached the state title match for three consecutive seasons, winning the 2012 and 2013 titles.
A two-time national prep champion and a top recruit in his class, he went on to wrestle at Blair Academy and Ohio State.
Colby Singletary, Palmetto Ridge Singletary reached three state finals, winning back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019.
He tragically died in a car crash at the age of 18.
Lincoln Sledzianowski, St.
John Neumann Sledzianowski became the Celtics' first state wrestling champion in 2025.
As a he followed up by going unbeaten after moving up two weight classes and winning his second state title.
He will wrestle collegiately at Nebraska.
Brennan Van Hoecke, Palmetto Ridge Van Hoecke reached state finals in every season of high school career, coming out on top in 2021 and 2022.
He also contributed to the Bears' state dual championship in 2022.
He currently wrestles at Little Rock.
Tyler Washburn, Palmetto Ridge Washburn grabbed three state titles from 2021 to 2023 and contributed to the Bears' state dual championship in 2022.
He currently wrestles for The Citadel.
