Henderson Silver Knights' Goaltending Tandem Shines Early in AHL Season

The Henderson Silver Knights began the 2026-27 AHL season with lofty expectations, and through their first 10 games, they hold a 6-4-0 record while averaging 2.5 goals scored and 2.3 goals allowed per contest. Currently fifth in the Pacific Division, the team has leaned heavily on its goaltending tandem for early success.

Carl Lindbom, who was ranked as the top goaltender for the 2026-27 AHL season by one analyst entering the year, has quickly justified that billing. In four appearances, he has compiled a 2-1-0 record with a 1.38 goals-against average, a .940 save percentage, and one shutout. Lindbom ranks third in the AHL in goals-against average and fourth in save percentage, providing the consistency and strong play Henderson needs between the pipes.

His counterpart, rookie Cameron Whitehead, has been equally impressive. In four games, Whitehead has posted a 3-1-0 record with a 1.80 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage. He ranks third in the league in save percentage and fifth in goals-against average. For a first-year pro, those numbers are remarkable and underscore the strength of Henderson's goaltending situation.

Together, Lindbom and Whitehead have combined for a 5-2-0 record, a 1.58 goals-against average, a .942 save percentage, and one shutout. They are two of the top goaltenders in the AHL this season, and their performances have been a major catalyst for the Silver Knights' strong start.

The Silver Knights have also used a third goaltender, Pavel Moysevich, who has appeared in three games. He holds a 1-2-0 record with a 3.34 goals-against average and an .882 save percentage. Moysevich started last weekend against the Coachella Valley Firebirds and allowed five goals. However, the team's early success has been driven primarily by its top two netminders.

Lindbom and Whitehead form a reliable tandem that could propel Henderson toward the top of the Pacific Division. If both continue to perform at this level, the Silver Knights could emerge as a serious contender for a deep Calder Cup Playoff run.
