Hailee Steinfeld Reveals Surprise 'Magic' Project During Bills' Bye Week

Hailee Steinfeld, the actress and singer married to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, has shared exciting career news just as the NFL team takes a break for its bye week. The announcement gives fans another glimpse into her creative endeavors.

Steinfeld is blending her passions for acting and music with a cover of The Cars' 1980s hit 'Magic,' recorded for her forthcoming animated movie 'Hexed.' In her Beau Society newsletter released on Friday, she called the opportunity unexpected but ultimately a memorable creative experience.

The project came together rapidly after Steinfeld received a text from 'Hexed' director Jared Bush. She immediately reached out to her childhood friend Demitri Lerios, who was on a boat in the middle of the ocean at the time. She asked him to fly to Buffalo to work on the track, and everything was completed in just two days. The pair recorded the song in a makeshift studio set up in Steinfeld's theater room.

For Steinfeld, the timing feels deeply personal. While reflecting on the experience, she connected the movie's mother-daughter storyline with her own new chapter as a mother to her and Allen's first child, Harper Haize Allen, born in April. 'Having made a movie about a beautiful mother-daughter story, while becoming a mother myself, and recording the kind of song I envision her dancing around the kitchen counter to one day,' she said. The thought of her daughter dancing to the song someday adds another layer of love to the release.

Steinfeld was thrilled to collaborate with Lerios, who has been a part of her life since childhood. 'He's been my bff since preschool, so I'm contractually obligated to hype him up,' she stated, before praising his many talents, including his cooking skills, wardrobe and ability to curate the perfect playlist. She also described how quickly everything came together, with Lerios traveling to Buffalo to help record the track, adding that 'all the stars aligned.'
