On Sunday night, the Memphis Grizzlies kept their undefeated streak alive with a 123-112 road win against the still-winless Sacramento Kings. Isaiah Stewart and Ty Jerome each completed three-point plays to cap an 11-0 run in the final minutes, sealing the victory.
Jerome led the Grizzlies with 31 points, while Cameron Boozer (16 points, 11 rebounds) and Cedric Coward (15 points, 11 rebounds) each posted double-doubles. Memphis chose to rest star center Zach Edey on the first night of a back-to-back road series. The Grizzlies (3-0) will visit the Utah Jazz on Monday night.
After surrendering a 14-point lead and finding themselves tied at 106 with 5:41 remaining, the Grizzlies regained control by scoring the next 11 points. Stewart started the surge by converting a 5-footer into a three-point play. Coward then tipped in a Boozer miss on the next possession to extend the lead to five. Jerome followed with six straight points, including a 27-footer and an 8-footer on which he was fouled and made the free throw.
The Kings, down 117-106 with 3:57 to play, could not get closer than seven points the rest of the way. Jerome, who made all 14 of his free-throw attempts, also dished out a team-high six assists. Jaylen Wells added 16 points, while Stewart and Cam Spencer contributed 13 apiece.
Sacramento's Zach LaVine led all scorers with 37 points. Rookie guard Darius Acuff Jr. had 22 points and a game-high seven assists, while center Domantas Sabonis, hampered by foul trouble for much of the night, recorded a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double. Precious Achiuwa also posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Kings, who have now lost all three of their games this season.
Seeking their first 3-0 start since 2017, the Grizzlies used an 11-0 run early in the second quarter to build a lead that eventually reached double digits before halftime and stood at 83-69 in the fifth minute of the third quarter. However, the Kings clawed back and tied the game at 106 on a three-point play by Sabonis with 5:41 remaining, setting the stage for Memphis's decisive late surge.
