Golden Knights trade Akira Schmid to Panthers

The Vegas Golden Knights have traded goaltender Akira Schmid to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Florida\'s 2028 third-round pick, the club announced Monday night.

Originally acquired from the New Jersey Devils in a deal involving Paul Cotter and Alexander Holtz exactly two years ago today, Schmid played 39 games with the Golden Knights over the past two years, making a team-high 34 appearances this past season.

He finished the 2025-26 campaign with a 16-10-6 record as well as a 2.59 goals-against average, .893 save percentage and two shutouts in 29 starts.

Golden Knights qualify RFA\'s, sign Lindbom to three-year deal The Golden Knights also qualified forwards Jakub Brabenec, Jakub Demec, Ivan Morozov and Joe Fleming as well as defenseman Lukas Cormier on Monday.

Over the weekend, Vegas inked goaltender Carl Lindbom to a three-year extension carrying an average annual value of $900,000.

Lindbom was set to become an RFA on July 1.

He played eight games for the Golden Knights this season, recording a 2-4-2 record with a 3.00 GAA and .873 SV%, though his play was much better than his numbers indicate.

With free agency looming, the Golden Knights have many decisions to make, including on soon-to-be unrestricted free-agent forwards Reilly Smith, Brandon Saad, Colton Sissons and Cole Smith as well as defensemen Rasmus Andersson, Jeremy Lauzon, Dylan Coghlan and Ben Hutton.
