CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Cutter Gauthier broke a deadlock with 1:34 left in regulation, stretching his goal-scoring streak to five games and driving the Anaheim Ducks to a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames on Friday night, their fourth straight victory.
The Ducks became the first team since the 1991-92 Pittsburgh Penguins to register at least five goals in seven consecutive contests.
Gauthier converted a one-timer off a feed from Mikael Granlund. He has now scored 10 of his 12 goals this season during the five-game surge.
Jeff Malott, Tristan Luneau, Leo Carlsson, and Nikita Nesterenko (into an empty net) also found the back of the net for Anaheim. Granlund and Beckett Sennecke each contributed two assists.
William Stromgren, Joel Hanley, and Joel Farabee scored for Calgary. Morgan Frost and Zayne Parekh each had two assists, but the Flames' five-game home winning streak came to an end.
Lukas Dostal started in goal for Anaheim but was pulled after allowing three goals on 11 shots in the first period. Ville Husso, who had surrendered seven goals in his previous outing, came on in relief and stopped all 10 shots he faced to improve to 2-3-0. Dustin Wolf, making his third straight start, made 24 saves for Calgary.
The Flames carried a 3-2 lead into the third period, but after Matt Coronato was penalized for delay of game 17 seconds in, Anaheim's red-hot power play capitalized with Carlsson tying the game at 55 seconds.
Ducks defenseman Jackson LaCombe picked up an assist to extend his point streak to nine games, the longest in franchise history for a defenseman. He surpassed Scott Niedermayer (2006-07) and Oleg Tverdovsky (1999-00) on the team list.
Up next: The Ducks host Pittsburgh on Sunday, while the Flames host Philadelphia on Sunday.
