Fresno State's fall camp commenced under sweltering triple-digit heat, with the Bulldogs' roster and coaching staff prioritizing high-energy efforts and self-assurance as they gear up for the upcoming football season.
Senior defensive back Simeon Harris noted that the initial practice session emphasized hustle and enthusiasm over flawless execution. "Man - just have fun like you a little kid seven or eight years old. Playing little junior peewee football and your mom is yelling at you," Harris remarked.
Harris, entering his final fall camp with the team, highlighted a noticeable shift in the squad's mentality compared to last year. "The biggest thing that sticks out between this year's team and last year's, like looking at the season and being a month out - is the confidence level," he said.
Head coach Matt Entz echoed that sentiment, particularly when evaluating the quarterbacks vying for the starting role. "Both of them you can tell they are ready to go. Both of them are hungry. Execution the communication should be at an all time high," Entz stated.
The quarterback battle pits Maryland transfer Khristian Martin against veteran Jayden Mandal, a Buchanan High School product. Entz indicated that a decision will be made during fall camp, with a definitive timeline: "At the latest it'll be ten days out from our first game."

"We can't practice like P4 teams so we have to be smarter than some of them to make sure we can get to game one. I think the way we have fall camp set up. All our physical activity happens between 8 o'clock and noon. So the rest of the day is about recovery and mental health and I think that's helped us one- minimize injuries and two-continue to stack really good days," he explained.
Injury news emerged during camp as well, with running back Brandon Ramirez and offensive lineman Eddie Fonua both ruled out for the entire season. The Bulldogs now turn their attention to their season opener against USC, scheduled for September 4 at the LA Memorial Coliseum.
