Freddy Peralta's Remarkable Turnaround: From Mets Disappointment to Rays Playoff Hero

For Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Freddy Peralta, the past few months have brought a dramatic shift in fortunes. He opened the season as the New York Mets' Opening Day starter, but like many of his teammates in Queens, he struggled to meet expectations.

After recording a 4.99 ERA over 22 starts for New York, Peralta was dealt to the Rays at this year's trade deadline. Now, with two playoff starts under his belt, he is proving to be a valuable acquisition.

Following a dominant performance against the New York Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS, Peralta delivered another stellar outing against Cleveland, tossing six shutout innings, allowing just four hits, and striking out six to help the Rays even the ALCS at 1-1.

With the series now shifting to Cleveland for Game 3, securing a win at Tropicana Field was crucial for Tampa Bay, especially considering they finished tied with the Brewers for the most home wins in MLB.

Since joining the Rays, Peralta has resembled the pitcher who started on Opening Day in each of the previous three seasons for Milwaukee and New York.
