The Kansas City Chiefs sparked controversy on Wednesday by adding former All-Pro kicker Justin Tucker to their practice squad. The 37-year-old, who spent his entire career with the Baltimore Ravens from 2012 to 2024, was once regarded as perhaps the greatest kicker in NFL history. However, his reputation suffered irreparable damage after The Baltimore Banner reported that 16 massage therapists had accused him of sexual misconduct.
According to The Baltimore Banner, the alleged incidents occurred between 2012 and 2016. Tucker has consistently denied any wrongdoing. In a statement to OutKick, he said, "I did not act inappropriately at any point before, during, or after a professional bodywork treatment session, nor have I ever been told I am unwelcome at any massage therapy provider." He added, "I absolutely respect the massage therapy profession and more so the individuals who work as massage therapists."
Despite his denials, the Chiefs' decision to sign Tucker has been widely criticized across the NFL community. One prominent voice, a Fox Sports analyst, made it clear he does not want to see Tucker take the field for his favorite team this season. "Going on the record that I hope Justin Tucker never plays a snap for the Chiefs," Wright posted on X. He also noted, "For those wondering, I feel the same way about Tyreek." Wright continued, "If you want to hear my deeper thoughts about a potential Tyreek signing (many apply to Tucker), I did them 2 weeks ago, and here they are."
Key Analysis
During his media session on Wednesday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed the signing, stating that Tucker has already served his NFL punishment—a 10-game suspension—and that he would not comment further. "I'm not going to get into all of that," Reid said. "To bring him in here, I did some homework. He's here, and he's on the practice squad, so we roll with it." The Chiefs have not announced whether Tucker will be on the active roster for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.
