Marcus Garrett, the former Kansas men's basketball standout, has agreed to a one-year contract with the Frankfurt Skyliners, a team competing in Germany's premier basketball division. The 27-year-old Dallas native, who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 195 pounds, made a brief appearance for the Jayhawks alumni squad during the 2026 The Basketball Tournament before finalizing this overseas move.
During the previous season, Garrett served as a starter for the Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League champions, posting averages of 12.2 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per contest. His defensive capabilities have long been recognized, as evidenced by his selection to the all-Big 12 defensive team three times during his collegiate career at Kansas, where he also earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and Naismith Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2020.

Frankfurt's head coach, Klaus Perwas, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting Garrett's defensive acumen and versatility. Perwas noted that Garrett is a tall, adaptable guard capable of playing both backcourt positions and defending multiple roles on the floor. Garrett's journey to Europe includes a stint in the NBA, where he appeared in 12 games for the Miami Heat during the 2021-22 season and four games for the Charlotte Hornets in 2024-25. After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, he spent time with the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the G League during the 2022-23 campaign before joining Greensboro for the following two seasons.
