Former Kansas basketball player Lagerald Vick has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, according to court documents obtained by The Athletic on Sunday.

The Memphis Police Department alleges that Vick, 29, shot a man attending a July 4 party in the 3100 block of Madewell Drive in Memphis, Tenn., according to an affidavit.

The victim claimed that he was approached by a man with a handgun tucked under his armpit who began a verbal confrontation, court records show.

His next court appearance for those charges is July 30.

Vick played four seasons at Kansas, helping it reach the Final Four in 2018.

As a senior the following season, he averaged 14.1 points per game and led the Jayhawks in 3-point shooting (45.5 percent).

Vick went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft.
