Former Celtics guard lands on Warriors Summer League team

Former Celtics guard Max Shulga has landed on one of the Warriors Summer League teams.

Golden State announced its two squads, Gold and Blue, for the California Classic portion of Summer League, which takes place ahead of the main event in Las Vegas later this month.

Shulga is on the Gold squad.

Shulga was picked 57th overall by the Celtics in the 2025 draft, spending the past season with the organization.

He made some franchise history along the way, becoming the first player to suit up in a G League and NBA game in the same day.

He finished the season averaging 0.6 points and 0.5 rebounds in 11 games (one start).

The Celtics declined Shulgas team option last month, making him a free agent, as he lands with the Warriors.

It looks like Shulga will look to stick with a different team going forward.

Boston also declined big man Amari Williams team option, but signed him to a two-way contract for this next season.

Shulga was on a two-way contract to start last season after getting drafted and playing Summer League with Boston in 2025.

He was promoted to the standard roster during the regular season, partly due to his low salary cap number.

Shulga spent most of his team in the G League with the Maine Celtics last season.

With Shulga going elsewhere, the Cs are expected to have an open two-way slot going forward.

Williams takes up one and Dillon Mitchell, picked 40th overall, is expected to get a two-way deal.

So the Celtics will have a chance to sign up someone interesting to a two-way ahead of the season.
