The anticipation surrounding Oregon's football program has been building since January, and the preseason US LBM coaches poll suggests that college coaches share that enthusiasm. The Ducks secured the No. 2 position in the poll released on August 4th, trailing only Ohio State, who they will meet on November 7th in Columbus, Ohio.
Oregon, which concluded the 2025 season with a 13-2 record and a fourth-place ranking in the final coaches poll, earned six first-place votes from the 72 coaches participating in this year's preseason survey. The Buckeyes dominated the first-place voting with 38 nods, while defending College Football Playoff champion Indiana received 14, despite being placed at No. 6 overall.
Big Ten Representation
Several other Big Ten programs appear in the top 25, including No. 14 Southern California, who will host Oregon on September 26th in their conference opener; No. 16 Michigan; No. 17 Penn State; No. 19 Washington; and No. 22 Iowa.

Full Preseason Coaches Poll Top 25
The complete top 25 includes Ohio State (1), Oregon (2), Georgia (3), Texas (4), Notre Dame (5), Indiana (6), Miami (Fla.) (7), Texas A&M (8), Oklahoma (9), Mississippi (10), Alabama (11), Texas Tech (12), LSU (13), Southern California (14), Brigham Young (15), Michigan (16), Penn State (17), Tennessee (18), Washington (19), SMU (20), Utah (21), Iowa (22), Clemson (23), Houston (24), and Missouri (25). Teams that dropped out from the final poll include Vanderbilt, Virginia, Tulane, James Madison, Navy, Georgia Tech, and Illinois.
Others receiving votes included Louisville, Florida, TCU, Arizona, South Carolina, and several others, as the college football season approaches.
