During a recent episode, Shannon suggested that the Detroit Red Wings' hunt for a new general manager might stretch into September. Yzerman stepped down on July 15 to become a senior adviser to CEO Chris Ilitch.
Shannon indicated that the timeline for a decision is longer than many anticipate. 'I was told that it's going to take a lot longer than people realize,' he said, adding that the process is very quiet and not close to a resolution. Yzerman remains present in the office, handling day-to-day operations in a maintenance capacity.
