According to a report from TMZ Sports, former NFL standout Cordarrelle Patterson was taken into custody in his home state of Tennessee over the weekend. The 35-year-old was booked into Sevier County Jail in the early hours of Saturday morning on a domestic assault charge.
Patterson, who was part of the New England Patriots' Super Bowl-winning team for the 2018 season, faces the charge with few specifics currently known about the circumstances leading to his arrest. A mugshot from the Sevier County Jail shows Patterson smiling broadly, but no further details about the allegations have been released.
The seven-time All-Pro return specialist has not played in the NFL since his release in July 2025. His career began after a standout stint at the University of Tennessee, where he transferred from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas and earned two NJCAA All-American honors before becoming a first-team All-SEC selection.
Patterson was selected as the No. 29 overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2013 NFL Draft and remained with the team until 2017. He then signed with the Oakland Raiders as a free agent before being traded to the Patriots the following year, where he contributed to the Super Bowl LIII victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
He later had brief stints with the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, and most recently the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024. The charge against him comes as a notable development for the veteran player, though authorities have not disclosed additional information about the case.
