Patrick Kane going back to Chicago isnt just a where hes playing next thing.
It looks like a really personal, full-circle move for him.
And from the way he talked right after signing, it sounds like hes genuinely fired up for a few reasons.
Hes been around the league for a long time, and its basically his history, his roots, his story coming back around.
Even if hes still chasing wins like any other guy, theres something about returning to the place where you started that just hits different.
He didnt sound like he was doing this out of convenience.
It simply felt right.
Kane straight up called him such a special player.
He shared that hes been seeing passes and hockey stuff hes never seen before when Bedard is on the ice.
Thats the kind of thing you cant really fake.
If youre a veteran and you see talent that sparks that wow reaction, it usually means youre going to have fun playing again.
And Kane also sounded like hes focused on making it work no matter where he fits.
That could be on the wing, at center, or whatever the role ends up being.
The motivation is still there, which is huge.

He didnt come off like hes waiting around.

Hes interested in the chemistry, timing, fitting his game into the lineup, and making the most of whatever situation he ends up in.
He mentioned Bedard, but he also talked about other guys who could stick out.
That signals that the team has multiple pieces and he wants to be a catalyst for how they all play.
Hes not acting like hes the only reason this could work.
Its more like he sees the talent around him and wants to elevate it.
Kane sounds excited about the chess match of it.
With Bedard dealing with shoulder surgery, they wont link up right away.
So theres some waiting.
But Kane doesnt sound impatient.
He sounds like the kind of guy who knows how to grind through the early stages, develop timing, and then let it rip when the connection is finally on.
