The Washington Commanders are reportedly adding to their secondary with the signing of veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas in NFL Free agency.
According to ESPNs Adam Schefter , the Commanders and Douglas have agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $3.8 million.
Douglas will now be playing for his sixth team, and his second in the NFC East after he spent the first two seasons of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, who drafted him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Douglas spent two seasons with the Eagles to begin his career and won a Super Bowl with Philly, also.

Mandatory Credit: Ed Mulholland-Imagn Images Douglas signed on with the Miami Dolphins in August last year and quickly worked his way into the starting lineup.
Douglas went on to have one of his best seasons as a pro after giving up a completion rate of 54.5% and a passer rating of 73.0 when targeted.
According to Pro Football Focus , Douglas did just about everything well.

Douglas also posted a strong 72.6 coverage grade and an 82.0 pass-rush grade, which ranked 24th and ninth among cornerbacks, respectively.
His 72.7 overall grade ranked 21st.
For numbers like that, a contract worth up to $3.8 million is a great deal for Washington.

The Commanders sported one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season and their pass defense was particularly bad.
Washington allowed 242.5 passing yards per contest in 2025, ranking as the fifth-most in the league.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Commanders have a pair of question marks at their starting cornerback spots.

Douglas offers a top-notch insurance policy for both of those players on the boundary, and he does have some experience in the slot, also, although his best spot is outside.
