Following a disappointing 3-9 campaign in 2025, the Colorado Buffaloes have undergone significant coaching changes, bringing in fresh leadership on both sides of the ball. The program's new offensive coordinator, Brennan Marion, recently shared his unfiltered thoughts on the upcoming season, expressing a strong belief in the assembled staff and a personal drive to succeed under pressure.
During an appearance on Moore Insight, Marion discussed his ambitions and the culture being built in Boulder. He emphasized that his primary focus is on winning and helping players achieve success, both on the field and financially. Marion stated, "The only thing I care about is being called a winner and a champion and helping people get paid and be successful." He also welcomed the challenges ahead, saying, "I like my back against the wall. I like all the stuff that's going on. I see the hunger in Coach Marve's eyes... We're putting a collection of great men together who have done things at a high level, different places. Now we're here together to do something special."
Colorado's offense ranked near the bottom nationally last season, averaging just 20.9 points per game, which ranked 116th out of 136 FBS teams. Head coach Deion Sanders made a bold move by hiring Marion, who spent one season as head coach at Sacramento State, where his team averaged 33.8 points per game and posted a 7-5 record. Marion is set to implement his up-tempo "go-go" offense, which features the quarterback in shotgun with two running backs.

In addition to Marion, Coach Sanders promoted Chris Marve to defensive coordinator after he was initially hired as the linebackers coach. Marve brings prior experience in that role from his tenure at Virginia Tech from 2022 to 2024. The Buffs will rely on redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Lewis, who played in four games as a true freshman, throwing for 589 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Lewis sat out the season finale to preserve his redshirt status, leaving him with four years of eligibility remaining.
Colorado opens the season at Georgia Tech on Thursday, September 3, at 6 p.m. MT on ESPN. The matchup will be an early test of how well Lewis adapts to Marion's offensive system and whether the new coaching staff can turn the program around.
