After enjoying their sole bye week of the 2026 campaign, the Colorado Buffaloes are bracing for a challenging stretch. The team is set to host No. 11 Utah in Week 7 before traveling to Stillwater to take on a revitalized Oklahoma State squad that currently sits in the top 25.
In the latest USA TODAY Sports 1-138 re-rank of every FBS program, Colorado fell two positions despite not playing in Week 6, landing at No. 81 nationally. The Buffaloes remain the lowest-ranked team in the Big 12 conference.
This slide comes as little shock, given that Colorado had actually moved up two spots the previous week even after a loss to Texas Tech. With additional results from around the country this week, the Buffs are expected to drop further.
Surrounding Colorado in the rankings are several other struggling Power Four programs, including Syracuse at No. 82, Michigan State at No. 83, Georgia Tech at No. 79, and Kansas at No. 78.
The Big 12 is prominently featured near the top of the re-rank, with Utah at No. 10, Texas Tech at No. 12, BYU at No. 13, and Houston at No. 17.
Utah represents the toughest test on Colorado's schedule, but it also offers a golden opportunity to spark a turnaround with a signature top-10 upset.
The top five saw a slight reshuffle following Texas' loss to Notre Dame, with Miami, Ohio State, and others each climbing one spot behind No. 1 Georgia. Indiana rounded out the top five, moving up three places.
