Chiefs Eyeing Tyreek Hill Reunion as Receiver Injuries Mount

The Kansas City Chiefs head into their bye week with a perfect 4-0 record, fresh off a crucial divisional victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. However, the win came at a cost, as the team's wide receiver group suffered significant injuries.

Rashee Rice was forced out of the game early, and later, Tyquan Thornton went down with a severe injury. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Thornton dislocated his left ankle and had it reset by team doctors. He was seen leaving Allegiant Stadium on crutches after the Chiefs' 30-27 triumph.

In the fourth quarter, Thornton had to be carted off after making a 55-yard reception that ended with a tackle from behind by rookie free safety Treydan Stukes, as reported by ESPN's Nate Taylor.

With the receiving corps depleted, Taylor also noted that the Chiefs have been in discussions with Tyreek Hill about a possible return. Even before the injuries to Thornton and Rice, Kansas City had expressed interest in signing the free agent wideout.

A team source told Taylor after Sunday's game, "we've remained in contact" with Hill and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. However, the timing of any potential signing remains uncertain.

Rosenhaus revealed that a deal could be finalized this week. "I would anticipate Tyreek potentially signing with a team over the next few days," he said.

If Hill were to sign this week, it would be a remarkably quick return from what was a significant injury, even considering it occurred a year ago. Specifically, if he joins the Chiefs, their current bye week would afford him additional time to prepare for their next matchup.

In a thin receiver room, Hill would likely become Patrick Mahomes' favorite target given their history together. While it's unclear whether Hill will choose Kansas City, many believe that's where he'll end up, and it could happen very soon.
