Celtics trade rumors: Boston showing interest in Nuggets forward

The Celtics are one of several teams interested in Nuggets forward Cameron Johnson as Denver looks to get under the second apron.

HoopHypes Michael Scotto reported the Lakers, Heat, Clippers and Magic are also interested in acquiring the forward from Denver.

Trade rumors are flying with free agency opening in a couple days.

The Celtics are deep in trade speculation, especially when it comes to Jaylen Browns future.

While Boston fell short of acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Heat, Brown could still be on the move this summer with several teams interested in the All-NBA wing.

The Nuggets acquired Johnson, 30, from the Nets last summer to give Nikola Jokic more shooting from the perimeter.

While Johnsons counting stats dipped, averaging 12.2 points and 3.8 rebounds, he shot 48.0% from the field and 43.0% on 4.7 3-pointers per game.

Hes on an expiring $23 million contract for next season.

Johnson could be an interesting add considering hes also not on a long-term deal.

The shooting would also be a nice addition for a Cs team that puts up 3-pointers.

He also adds some length as a 6-foot-8 wing whos been a consistent starter in recent years.

The Celtics are mainly looking at adding some size for the big man rotation, but its also clear theyre looking to upgrade the roster as a whole.

Theyre also linked to Mavericks guard Brandon Williams in trade rumors.

NBA free agency starts at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, so there should be more clarity going forward.
