Celtics NBA Champion Has Huge Hopes for Duke's Cameron Boozer in NBA

Duke star Cameron Boozer seemed a bit disrespected in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Perhaps not to the same level as a guy like Caleb Wilson, but it never felt like Boozer really had a chance to go first overall, despite what some had mentioned.

Ultimately, he's a very good player and proved during his time at Duke that he was the best player in college basketball last season.

We can go down a long list of what Boozer was able to do on both sides of the floor, but his offensive engine is just ridiculous.

There's a reason why many consider him one of the best offensive prospects the game has seen in quite some time, and there's certainly hope that everything is going to continue on that front.

It'll be interesting to see if he can be that player in the NBA, but one former NBA player believes he can, with Brian Scalabrine recently saying that Boozer is simply a guy who helps teams win.

"He's going to help the team win," Scalabrine said on SiriusXM NBA Radio's July 6 episode.

"He's not just a glue guy; he's actually going to be a player you can go to in certain situations.

He's an excellent passer; he's not Jokic, but he has the ball in his hands, and you cut, it's a good chance you're going to get the ball." Interestingly enough, Boozer is in a really good position to start his NBA career.

As things currently stand, he has a real chance to be a superstar in Memphis from day one.

After moving on from former star Ja Morant, who doesn't seem to be the same player he once was, there's hope and expectation that Boozer can now fill that void following the trade with the Portland Trail Blazers.

"Obviously, I didn't know it was going to happen," Boozer said.

"Ja is a great player.

It's not our decision to make.

It's the front office's decision.

I think we got a great young core.

I think that's what they're looking to build off of, so I think the future is really exciting," he added.
