The Knicks weren't the only Major League champions crowned over the weekend.
The Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL won a hard fought series against the Vegas Golden Knights to raise the Stanley Cup.
Both teams came into the finals hoping the third time would be the charm, as both teams were making their third finals appearances.
The last time both teams entered the finals, they emerged victorious, the Golden Knights in 2023, and the Hurricanes in 2006.
Game one saw a back and forth between the two teams.
Twelve minutes into the first period, Carolina went up 2-0, but Vegas tied it up within 30 seconds of the second period.
The two teams traded goals back and forth, until 16 minutes into the third period when Tomas Hertl scored a goal to give Vegas a 5-4 win, and a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.
Game two was back in Raleigh.
This game would see Vegas take a 2-0 lead.
However in the third period, the Canes mounted a comeback, taking a 3-2 lead with five minutes left on the clock.
Then with less than two minutes left, the Golden Knights scored, taking the game into overtime.
Carolina then went on a power play, after a tripping penalty from Hertl, and Seth Jarvis scored, giving Carolina a 4-3 win, and tying the series up at one a piece.
The action heated up once more as the teams made their way to the Nevada desert.
After a scoreless first period, The Golden Knights charged ahead, putting up a 4-0 lead, including a hat trick from Mitch Marner.
Then in the third period, The Hurricanes came storming back to tie the game 4-4, including three goals in under a minute.
The game then went into double overtime, with the Knights eventually winning 5-4, and taking a series lead 2-1.
Game four was back in Paradise, Nev.
The Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead after three minutes.
Both teams battled to a 3-3 tie at the end of the second period.
The Canes would then score again, and after an empty net goal from Nikolaj Ehlers, Carolina won 5-3, tying the series.
It was back to the Tar Heel State for game five.
Even though Vegas scored first blood, Carolina battled back putting up four goals across three periods.
An early third period goal from Vegas just wasn't enough to stop Carolina from winning 4-2, and taking their first lead in the series 3-2.
Nevada was home to game six and a blowout.
Carolina scored three unanswered goals across the three periods, including Ehlers second empty net goal of the series.
The Hurricanes won 3-0 and clinched the Stanley Cup.
For captaining the Hurricanes, Jordan Staal was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as most valuable player.
This is Carolinas second Stanley Cup.
Carolinas coach, Rod Brind'Amour was a member of the last Carolina team to win the Cup.
He is now the seventh person in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup as coach with the same team he won with as a player.
He is also the first to do this in the 21st Century..
