Carolina Hurricanes Sign Zach Sawchenko to Two-Way Deal

The defending Stanley Cup champion adds to its goalie depth.

The Hurricanes saw Frederik Andersen sign in Edmonton.

They are currently rolling with the duo of Brandon Bussi and Pyotr Kochetkov, but theyve now signed Zach Sawchenko to a one-year, two-way deal.

Sawchenko spent last season in the AHL with the Cleveland Monsters and appeared in 29 games.

He went 14-10-3 with a 3.05 goals-against average and an .880 save percentage.

In eight playoff games, he went 5-3-0 with a 2.01 goals-against average, a .914 save percentage, and a shutout.

He appeared in 41 games for the Hurricanes AHL affiliate, the Wolves, in 2022-23.

He went 17-18-3 with a 3.10 goals-against average, a .895 save percentage, and a shutout.

Sawchenko joined the San Jose Sharks out of USports, where he played with the University of Alberta.

Since then, he has appeared in seven career NHL games for the Sharks in the 2021-22 season.

He went 1-2-1 with a 3.35 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage.

He has appeared in 135 career AHL games, going 56-57-13.

Sawchenko has a 3.08 goals-against average, a .895 save percentage, and three shutouts.

Hes also appeared in 20 ECHL games, going 13-4-2-1 with a 2.42 goals-against average, a .928 save percentage, and two shutouts.
