Ross Cameron-Imagn Images Brandon Aiyuks standoff with the San Francisco 49ers continues to take unexpected turns, and one 49ers insider has raised doubts about the stars future.
Speaking on his latest podcast, Matt Maiocco discussed the relationship between Aiyuk and the 49ers, stating the team could soon pursue a significant financial recovery.
Maiocco also questioned whether another team would be willing to fully commit to the veteran receiver.
The 49ers have an incredible opening to go after the money they already paid Brandon, Maiocco said.
I dont know the exact numbers that they will be able to get back, but I would put it somewhere between $13.8 million and $18.4 million.
Whatever it may be, the 49ers are certainly going after that money.
He also cast doubt on Aiyuks confidence.
Hes talking about the day the 49ers release him, hell be signing with the Commanders the next day, Maiocco said.
I just cant imagine them going all in for Brandon, and for him to say he will sign with the Commanders, is he just speculating because one of his very good friends, Jayden Daniels, is the quarterback of the Commanders? I dont know.
Maiocco then raised a question about the receivers future.
I dont think its out of the realm of possibility or out of the question that Brandon Aiyuk has played his final NFL game.
Brandon Aiyuk Continues Public Feud With the 49ers Matt Maiocco also reflected on warning signs that dated back to Brandon Aiyuks 2024 contract negotiations.
I recall two years ago when they were going through this contract negotiation, there were people within the organization who thought that Aiyuk didnt want to play football anymore because the 49ers had given him an offer, he sat on it and didnt get back to them, Maiocco said.
The relationship really seemed to be fractured at that point where the 49ers really werent sure where Brandon Aiyuks mind was and where his urgency was.
Those remarks arrive amid Aiyuks claim of firing his agent Ryan Williams while accusing him of contacting his wife after their relationship ended.
The wide receiver also reiterated that he will never play for San Francisco again, claiming the only time he expects to return to Levis Stadium is on October 19 if he takes on the role to play with the Washington Commanders.
