Bruins make surprising goalie pick in second round

The Bruins first pick of the 2026 NHL Draft was a bit unexpected.

Boston selected Russian goalie Yuri Ivanov from the Moscow Spatek program.

The 6-foot-2, 165-pound netminder was the 10-ranked European goalie available.

There are limited scouting reports available for him and the NHL Network analysts had little to add about the move after they announced Ivanovs selection.

He was 13-3-1 for Spatek this season with a 2.62 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.

The pick was Bostons first of the 2026 draft after dealing their first pick to Utah in the J.J.
