The Bruins came to terms with four depth players on contracts on the first day of NHL free agency.
Forwards Brendan Gaunce and Brian Halonen signed two-way, two-year contracts with Boston, while defenseman Maxence Guenette and goalie Jiri Patera agreed to one-year, two-way deals on Wednesday.
Gaunce played one game for the Bruins during the 2019-20 season when he assisted on Zdeno Charas game-winning goal.
The journeyman will provide depth for Boston and give Providence a veteran presence.
Halonen spent the last three seasons with the New Jersey Devils.
The forward spent most of his career in the AHL and has played in 15 NHL games.
He has a goal and an assist during that time.
Guenette has not played in an NHL game since the 2023-24 season while he was with the Ottawa Senators.
Patera spent the 2025-26 season with the Vancouver Canucks and played in one game when he gave up seven goals in an 8-5 loss to the Florida Panthers.
The goalie will give Boston depth at the position after it traded Joonas Korpisalo to the New York Rangers, which will likely pave the way for Michael DiPietro to be Jeremy Swaymans backup going into the 2026-27 season.
