Bruins Extend Winning Streak to Five with 4-1 Victory Over Kings

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Marat Khusnutdinov found the back of the net in the third period, and the Boston Bruins skated past the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 on Saturday night, extending their winning streak to five games.

David Pastrnak contributed a goal, while Elias Lindholm and JJ Peterka added empty-net tallies. Goaltender Jeremy Swayman turned aside 25 shots for Boston.

The Bruins completed a sweep of the three California teams during a four-game road trip that concludes Tuesday in Dallas.

Alex Laferriere scored for Los Angeles, and Anton Forsberg made 24 saves. The Kings are still searching for their first win after six games this season and have been limited to one goal in each of their last four contests.

Khusnutdinov broke a 1-1 tie with 6:24 remaining, scoring on a backhander after Forsberg failed to smother Morgan Geekie's shot and Matt Poitras kept the play alive.

Los Angeles got off to a fast start, scoring just 31 seconds into the game. Laferriere, positioned at the top of the crease, redirected Adrian Kempe's pass for his second goal of the season, capitalizing on his promotion to first-line center.

Boston answered early in the second period, with Pastrnak tying the game at 2:43. He pounced on a loose puck in the neutral zone, carried it into the offensive zone, and beat Forsberg with a wrist shot from the right circle for his fourth goal of the year. It was Pastrnak's 289th even-strength goal, tying Phil Esposito for third-most in Bruins history.

Boston center Pavel Zacha did not play due to an upper-body injury sustained in the third period against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. Coach Marco Sturm said before the game that Zacha is day to day.

Up next: Bruins visit the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night; Kings visit the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night.
