The Denver Broncos are on a mission to win Super Bowl LXI and they believe they have the pieces in place to do it.
But when looking over the roster, it's hard not to stop and take a long look at the inside linebacker position.
The Broncos were quick to re-sign their own free agents this offseason, Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad.
They then made the decision to release Dre Greenlaw after just one year with the team.
These moves will be questioned as the team does not have a lot of depth at the position and after failing to land an inside linebacker early in the draft, Singleton and Strnad are slated to be this year's starters.
The best word to describe that situation would be shaky.
Singleton has had injury issues in recent years and Strnad has never been a full-time starter.
Behind them, the team has Jordan Turner, Levelle Bailey, Karene Reid and Taurean York, who all came to the team as undrafted players.
The Broncos seem to have found a sleeper in seventh-round pick Red Murdock, but will he be ready to see significant time as a rookie? The Broncos have a great history with undrafted free agents, and Turner, Bailey and Reid have all flashed potential and York is brimming with it, but it seems a strong veteran presence is still needed.
Sharp Football Analysis lists several linebackers still available on the market, but here are three players who have all found success in the league and the Broncos should be strongly considering signing one of them before the season gets going.
Bobby Okereke A third-round pick of the Colts in 2019, Bobby Okereke spent the past three seasons with the Giants before being released this offseason.
He is still on the right side of 30 years old and his 143 tackles were tied for tenth-most in the league last year.
He would be a strong addition to the roster.
Matt Milano Matt Milano has spent his entire nine-year career with the Bills, but it looks like he will need to find a new team if that career is going to continue.
He had 67 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 12 games for the team last year, and he could still offer a solid hand to turn to if injuries popped up for the Broncos or either Singleton or Strnad started to struggle in certain areas.
On the downside, he will turn 32 years old at the end of this month.
Bobby Wagner Bobby Wagner has put together a career that could eventually land him in Canton, but he may want to get one more shot at winning a ring before he hangs up the pads for good.
He just turned 36 years old, but if he can come to a team and be a rotational piece of a defense, rather than an every-down guy, he may be inclined to give that a shot.
But in key situations where the Broncos had to have a play, and might not feel fully comfortable placing Singleton or Strnad in that spot, there aren't many situations Wagner hasn't been through.
