The Milwaukee Brewers hold a 2-0 advantage over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, and the team is generating significant excitement, surpassing even last year's squad that reached the NLCS for the first time since 2018. The 2026 Brewers are widely regarded as a stronger overall team, excelling both offensively as one of MLB's top hitting units and defensively with disciplined play and few errors.
In recognition of their defensive prowess, two Brewers players have been named finalists for the Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Earlier today, Rawlings announced the three finalists at each position in both the National and American Leagues. Milwaukee's Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio are among those honored.
Jackson Chourio is a finalist in left field, while Brice Turang is a finalist at second base. Chourio, who missed the first month of the season, recorded a perfect fielding percentage in left field, with 199 putouts, eight outfield assists, and 13 defensive runs saved. Although offense is not a criterion for this defensive award, Chourio's career year at the plate—batting .291/.351/.487 with 25 home runs, 75 RBI, and 23 stolen bases—certainly bolsters his case.
Turang, the 2024 Gold Glove and Platinum Glove winner at second base, had another stellar season in the field. He led the National League with 219 putouts and all of MLB by participating in 91 double plays, while also accumulating 14 defensive runs saved. Offensively, he became the first Brewers second baseman to achieve 20+ home runs and 100+ RBI in a single season, hitting .268/.366/.450 with 21 home runs, 100 RBI, and 19 stolen bases.
Key Analysis
The recognition of Turang and Chourio as Gold Glove finalists underscores the Brewers' commitment to defensive excellence, a key factor in their deep postseason run. Their individual achievements at the plate further highlight their all-around contributions to a team that is outperforming expectations and challenging the Dodgers in the NLCS.
The winners of the Gold Glove Awards will be announced on November 1.
