Bills Share Demolition Footage of Former Highmark Stadium as New Venue Nears Opening

The Buffalo Bills provided fans with a glimpse of the ongoing demolition of their old Highmark Stadium on Friday, posting footage on social media as the franchise gears up for the 2026 NFL season in a new facility.

According to a team statement shared by Ryan Miller of the Democrat and Chronicle, demolition efforts commenced in May and are slated for completion by March 2027.

The original Highmark Stadium, which first opened in 1973 as Rich Stadium, has undergone several name changes over the decades, including Ralph Wilson Stadium, New Era Field, and Bills Stadium. Now, the team is set to relocate to a brand-new venue just across the street, also named Highmark Stadium, which officially opened on June 23 following a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new stadium's first public engagement is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, when the Bills hold a training camp practice. The preseason opener will take place on August 15 against the Carolina Panthers, while the regular-season home debut is set for Thursday, September 17, versus the Detroit Lions.
