A video clip that circulated on social media appeared to show Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady addressing safety CJ Gardner-Johnson about his livestreaming activities inside team facilities. In the brief exchange, Brady could be heard telling Gardner-Johnson, “I would say just be mindful, probably not locker room, training room, you know what I mean?”
The moment, captured during what seemed to be a livestream on one of Gardner-Johnson’s platforms, quickly gained attention online. However, neither the coach nor the player seemed to view it as a significant issue. Brady, speaking to reporters on Wednesday, dismissed any concerns, stating, “Something like that is not an issue. That’s not a concern.”
Coach’s Approach
When asked about establishing his authority as a new head coach, Brady emphasized authenticity. “Just be myself. I’m not trying to be anybody, that’s all I know,” he said. “This is year one for everybody. Like I told the team, we’ve never been here before. There is no, you know what training camp is like. That’s when you fall back into the assumption of you start thinking like you always thought. But I can’t be anybody that I’m not.”
Brady added that he addresses behavior that falls short of team standards in meetings. “If I see things that’s not the standard or living up to it or gets in the way of it, then I’ll address it,” he explained.
Gardner-Johnson, for his part, showed no signs of being bothered by the incident. Videos from Wednesday’s practice in the rain showed the safety enthusiastically making his way to the field and signing autographs for fans.
Brady is in his first year as Bills head coach after being promoted from offensive coordinator following the firing of Sean McDermott.
