Bethune-Cookman's baseball team had a season to remember in 2026.
The Wildcats beat ranked LSU and Florida in back-to-back weeks in April, leading them to a program-record 37 regular-season wins.
Bethune-Cookman won all 10 of its Southwestern Athletic Conference series to earn the No.
1 seed in the SWAC Tournament.
The Wildcats were the No.
14 scoring offense in Division I baseball with 496 runs thanks to top-35 national ranks in batting average (.304) and stolen bases (128).
There are always players behind the stats.
And with the 2026 MLB Draft beginning at 1 p.m.
on July 11, will any of B-CU's players get selected by big-league organizations? The last Wildcat to do so was Nolan Santos in 2023, when the former Bethune-Cookman ace was chosen by the Minnesota Twins in the seventh round.
Here are three players to keep an eye on when teams start picking their next generation of talent.
Pablo Torres Year: Senior Position: Right-handed pitcher 2026 stats: 21 appearances, 2613 innings, 2-3 record, 4.44 ERA, 29 strikeouts, 16 strikeouts, five saves Torres was one of the Wildcats' reliable bullpen arms that helped them reach their record-setting milestone.
The senior righty easily led Bethune-Cookman with five saves, and his 29 strikeouts were the most outside of the Wildcats' three weekend starters.
Torres' final season with B-CU earned him Second Team All-SWAC honors and invitations to Team USA's College National Team training camp and the 2026 MLB Draft Combine.
Jose Fernandez Year: Redshirt junior Position: First base/catcher 2026 stats: 47 games, .361 average, 1.080 OPS, 12 home runs, 52 RBIs, 38 runs If anybody from the SWAC was to get drafted, Fernandez figures to be near the top of the list.
He was the conference's player of the year after all.
Fernandez's batting average trailed only outfielder Michael Rodriguez's .422 mark, and his 12 home runs tied for third in the entire conference.
Justin Morales Year: Sophomore Position: Right-handed pitcher 2026 stats: 19 appearances, 2613 innings, 2-1 record, 3.42 ERA, 23 strikeouts, 24 walks Like Torres, Morales provided consistent relief for Bethune-Cookman's aces all season.
The Oranjestad, Aruba, native's 3.42 ERA kept the Wildcats' opponents at bay, leading to two saves.
Morales gained additional experience by representing The Netherlands at the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
