Bears Guard Jonah Jackson Week-to-Week with Hip Flexor, Status for Patriots Game Uncertain

Chicago Bears fans celebrated the return of quarterback Caleb Williams from injury in Week 6, as he led the team to a victory. However, the win over the Atlanta Falcons came with an injury setback: offensive guard Jonah Jackson suffered a hip flexor injury during the game.

NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported that Jackson is considered week-to-week. Fowler stated, "Bears OG Jonah Jackson has a hip flexor injury and is considered week-to-week, per source. Status for TNF in doubt but shouldn't be long-term."

Jackson's availability for the Bears' upcoming Thursday Night Football game against the New England Patriots remains uncertain. Nevertheless, the injury is not expected to keep him sidelined for an extended period.

After facing the Patriots, Chicago will have a 10-day rest period before their Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Given Fowler's report that the injury should not keep Jackson out for long, there is a possibility that the veteran guard could return for that Seahawks game.

Jackson has been a key component of Chicago's offensive line since joining the team. His experience and ability to operate in the interior provide valuable support for Williams. Jackson joined the Bears in March 2025 when the team acquired him from the Los Angeles Rams. He arrived in Chicago as an experienced interior offensive lineman after previously playing for the Detroit Lions and the Rams.

Jackson has continued to serve as a regular starter in 2026. Through Chicago's first five games of the season, he appeared in and started all five before suffering the hip flexor injury against the Falcons.

New England also has injury concerns of its own, with the Patriots' offensive line dealing with several issues. However, if Jackson cannot suit up against New England, the Bears will need to rely on their available depth to fill the gap. Luke Newman might be a potential option if the veteran guard is ruled out against New England.
