Bears Dominate Falcons in Week 6: Caleb Williams Shines, Kyler Gordon Sacks Trio

For an NFL franchise, few feelings rival the satisfaction of rebounding from a disappointing defeat with a commanding victory, and the Chicago Bears experienced exactly that on Sunday.

The Bears overwhelmed the Atlanta Falcons, erasing the sting of their previous week's embarrassing loss to the Green Bay Packers. Although the Falcons made a late push to keep things interesting, the outcome was never truly in doubt.

The return of quarterback Caleb Williams from a hamstring injury could hardly have gone smoother, and his performance will be examined further below. Another notable comeback was that of offensive lineman Ozzy Trapilo, who saw his first NFL action since rupturing his patellar tendon in January. Unfortunately for Trapilo, his 2026 debut was tarnished by a holding penalty that negated a significant pass play to Rome Odunze.

This was far from a flawless game, and the Bears now face a quick turnaround as the resurgent New England Patriots visit Soldier Field on Thursday. But for the moment, let's distribute game balls for this Week 6 triumph.

1. Caleb Williams

If the notion that head coach Ben Johnson's offense could be better run by another quarterback in Chicago wasn't already fading, it should now be completely buried. Williams opened the game with two flawless touchdown drives, completing all 10 of his passes for 120 yards and a score during that stretch, and he never looked back. Though he threw only one touchdown, Williams amassed over 300 passing yards and completed an astonishing 83.3% of his attempts, exceeding two of three statistical benchmarks predicted for this matchup. More importantly, he served notice to the league that he is a rising superstar at the position. As long as he is under center, the Bears remain a threat to defeat any opponent.

2. Kyler Gordon

Welcome back, Kyler Gordon! In his first game of the 2026 season, Gordon delivered a remarkable stat line that included three sacks. When he is on the field, Gordon is precisely the kind of playmaker the Bears invested in with a market-setting contract extension last year. The issue has been his availability. He appeared in just five games last season, including the Bears' two playoff contests, and he missed the first five weeks of this campaign. If Gordon continues to perform as he did on Sunday and avoids further absences, he will force the Bears into a difficult offseason decision regarding his contract. Clearly, he is a difference maker, but can he stay healthy? That is a question for general manager Ryan Poles to answer in the spring. For now, however, Gordon has earned this game ball.

3. Colston Loveland

It took longer than anyone expected, but Colston Loveland finally recorded his first touchdown of the 2026 NFL season. He caught a precise dart from Caleb Williams between two defenders in the red zone on the Bears' opening drive and held on for six points. Loveland finished the game with six receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown, and for that he receives this final game ball.
